31 survived, 4 bodies were found after the tourist boat sank in the Red Sea

CAIRO, NOV 27 – Egyptian authorities said yesterday that four bodies were found and 31 people were rescued after a tourist boat sank on the country’s Red Sea coast.

The boat was carrying 44 people, including 31 foreigners on a diving trip when it capsized near the coastal town of Marsa Alam early Monday morning, the agency reported. Anatolia.

Local authorities received a distress signal from the boat at 5:30 a.m. local time during a dive cruise.

“A total of 31 people have been rescued so far and four bodies have been found,” said Red Sea Governor Amr Hanafi in a statement.

However, he did not state the nationality of the victims whose bodies were found.

The governor said three people were rescued on Tuesday, including two Belgians.

“Efforts are still continuing to find nine more who are missing,” he said.

According to the governor, 31 foreigners from the United States, Germany, United Kingdom, Poland, Belgium, Switzerland, Finland, China, Slovakia, Spain and Ireland were on the boat when it sank.

He said investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident.
