Thanksgiving is starting off with freezing temperatures. This morning is colder than 24 hours ago.
High pressure moving back in helped skies clear out during the night and winds have been light. This allowed temperatures to plummet last night and early this morning.
We will go from freezing to the 40s later this afternoon. Even though the holiday will be chilly at least there will be plenty of sunshine.
Skies will remain in fair shape tonight with mostly clear to partly cloudy conditions. Low temperatures drop back down below freezing into the teens and 20s, making for a cold start to Friday for early risers heading out to shop.
Friday afternoon will be chilly again for most of us but parts of Southwest Kansas will be able to sneak into the low 50s. A breeze will pick back up to 20 to 25 mph too with the strongest winds being to the southwest.
There is a system that the Storm Track 3 Weather Team is monitoring closely. Timing will be late Friday night through Saturday morning. So far, it is looking like Northeast Kansas could get clipped with some snow but most of the wintry weather will miss our area and better chances will impact our neighbors in Missouri. Temperatures improve next week while we stay dry.
