BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, NOV 28 – In conjunction with the celebration to commemorate the anniversary of the name change of the city of Brunei to Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) for the 54th year in 2024, the BSB Town Department, Ministry of Home Affairs (KHEDN), this afternoon held a Ceremony Khatam Al-Quran, Recitation of Ratib Al-Attas, Selawat Tafrijiyyah and Thanksgiving Prayer at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque, in the capital.
This year, a total of 897 khatam participants consisting of officials and staff from government departments, institutions of higher education, private parties and the Muslimah Meraih Berkah group participated in the reading of the Khatam Al-Quran this year.
Present as the guest of honor was the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Honorable Dato Seri Setia Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman.
The ceremony began with the recitation of the Khatam Prayer led by Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah’s Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute student, Awang Zainal Mustapa bin Jaluddin, while the Takhtim and Khatam Prayer were recited by Mosque Officer Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien, Begawan Mudim Haji Amran bin Haji Mohd Salleh.
The ceremony was then brightened up with the reading of Ratib Al-Attas and Selawat Tafrijiyyah and ended with a Prayer of Thanksgiving.
The council aims to develop continuous efforts to strengthen the Islamic religion in Brunei, as well as present a good and beautiful image of the city, in line with its position as the Kingly Malay Islamic City or City of Zikir.
