LABUAN, NOV 28 – The Labuan Corporation (LC) announced the extension of a 50 percent monthly rental discount for hawkers at UTC Pasar Sentral throughout the year 2025, thus benefiting 519 traders.
Deputy Chairman of LC, Simsudin Sidek said the decision was made to ease the challenges faced by traders operating in the busy wet and dry markets on the island.
“We understand the difficulties experienced by hawkers in wet and dry markets, as well as those who operate kiosks at UTC Pasar Sentral,” he said Named.
“As a local authority, we are committed to supporting small businesses by addressing these challenges and ensuring they have access to sufficient facilities and infrastructure to generate survival,” he said.
The initiative, which cost about RM435,408, reflects LC’s dedication in creating a sustainable environment for small businesses.
Beneficiaries include traders selling vegetables, fruits, seafood, clothing, kitchenware and other local products. – Named
