BANGKOK, NOV 29 – Food security, energy security, green economy and digital connectivity were the main topics discussed during the meeting between Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong yesterday.
Paetongtarn described the discussions that included various issues of mutual interest as fruitful.
“During the discussion, we expressed our hope to increase trade and investment between the two countries. “Thailand is very interested in improving Singapore’s food security through increased exports of Thai premium rice and organic eggs,” he told reporters yesterday.
It marked Wong’s first official visit to Thailand since taking office in May.
“This visit provides an opportunity to review existing cooperation and chart a course for future initiatives,” said Paetongtarn, adding that Thailand is preparing to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Singapore next year.
According to him, next year will see an increase in high-level exchanges, starting with Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s visit to Singapore in January.
Thailand is also looking forward to welcoming the President of Singapore on an official visit while Paetongtarn plans to make a return visit to Singapore. – Named
