Boil Water Advisory lifted for a Cowley Count town

Boil Water Advisory lifted for a Cowley Count town

ATLANTA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Boil Water Advisory that has been in effect for a Cowley County town for 8 days has finally been lifted.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment says testing has determined that the water in the city of Atlanta’s public water system is safe to consume. The advisory had been in place since Nov. 21 because a valve was being replaced.

The replacement project led to a drop in pressure in the water system. A loss of pressure in public water systems can lead to a loss of chlorine residuals, which prevent bacteria from developing.

Consumers in Atlanta who still have questions can contact the water system at 620-394-2220 or KDHE at 785-296-5514. You can also find helpful information on the KDHE’s Public Water System website.
