KUCHING, NOV 29 – Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, a private university from Peru, are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in various fields of study next year.
Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to Malaysia Ricardo Estanislao Morote Canales said the collaboration will focus on three aspects – biodiversity, renewable energy and tropical diseases.
“We intend to work together because we know, for example, Sarawak is trying to transition from fossil fuel use to green energy.
“UNIMAS is also trying to eradicate dengue, which is one of the diseases in Peru, so this is an area where we are increasing cooperation with Sarawak,” he said.
“The MoU has been formulated, it just needs to be signed. I will hold a meeting with UNIMAS to invite them to Peru, and maybe the MoU will be signed next January,” he told reporters when met after paying a courtesy call on Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today. . – Named
