LONDON, NOV 29 – More than 60 British MPs from seven political parties have urged Foreign Secretary David Lammy to impose sanctions on Israel, over what it claims is repeated violations of international law.
According to the Agency Anatoliathe letter was sent to Lammy on Wednesday night led by Independent MPs Richard Burgon and Imran Hussain.
The letter refers to a key advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in July that declared Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories illegal and called for its immediate end.
Among the leaders who signed the letter were prominent political figures including former Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott, former Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell, Green Party co-leader Carla Denyer and former Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn.
Other MPs representing the Labor Party, the Liberal Democrats, Plaid Cymru and the Scottish National Party (SNP) also joined the call. – Named
