BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, NOV 8 – A launch ceremony for Bunga Rampai: Islamic Family Law was held recently at the Main Stage, Brunei Book Fair 2024, Indoor Stadium, Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex, Berakas.
The book was written by a former Syarie lawyer who has served for over 20 years, Mohammad Shahray Zulkifli and was launched by the Acting Director of the Brunei Language and Library Council (DBP), Dayang Hajah Haireni binti Haji Awang Damit.
The Launch Ceremony was also attended by the Head of the Marketing Division of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Publishers representing USM Publishers, Mohd Zaidi bin Abdullah and the Manager and Publisher of Creative Production Publishing Company, Haji Mohammad Yunus bin Haji Mohd Salleh representing the authors of the book.
The book discusses issues of marriage, polygamy, divorce, dissolution of marriage, claims after divorce and also the latest issues including LGBTQ, monkey pox, narcissism in the household, heresy and so on besides explaining the beauty of Brunei’s Islamic family law.
The author took approximately five years to complete the book through research on hundreds of cases, books, articles, social media, newspaper clippings and also interviews with Brunei Syariah Court staff.
The book is expected to be a reference for students majoring in law because the cases discussed in this book also involve cases in the country as well as Malaysia.
The launch ceremony was also attended by officials from the Brunei Syariah Court and Brunei DBP.
