The National Security Service of Belarus arrested a Japanese national who, according to local media, “conducted reconnaissance in border areas and military facilities.”
The Japanese man is suspected of collecting information on social and economic conditions in Belarus, the implementation of China’s One Road One Belt initiative and the situation along Belarus’s border with Ukraine.
The state-run Belarus 1 TV channel said it would provide additional details.
