Economy and business: Earlier this week it became known that the government will have a thorough review of the flight offer on the routes that receive state support, the so-called FOT routes. NHO’s regional directors in Northern Norway are well satisfied with that, write Folkebladet.

– An investigation does not necessarily solve the transport challenges our member companies face immediately, but it is a step in the right direction, says Hans Christian Hansson, regional director of NHO Nordland, in a press release.

He says the short-haul network is the main artery in the north.

– If it is choked, there will be consequences for all activity and not just for business, Hansson believes.

He is supported by, among others, Sigrid Ina Simonsen, who is regional director of NHO Arctic.

In order to ensure a good flight offer throughout the country, the state buys transport on air routes that cannot be operated with a satisfactory route offer on commercial terms.

These routes are mainly in Western Norway and Northern Norway. The state spends NOK 2.4 billion annually on air routes.
