A driver drove into a group of people celebrating at a church festival in Lower Franconia. Several people were slightly injured, police said. It is still unclear whether it was an accident or whether the 58-year-old driver deliberately drove into the group of people in Großwallstadt, they said.
Because the man had to be resuscitated, it was initially assumed that a health problem was the cause of the accident. However, as further investigations were carried out on site, it was assumed that it was possible that the driver deliberately drove into the group. “An expert was called in to clarify the course of events,” the police said.
The 58-year-old had driven off the road on the city’s main street in the late afternoon. The fire brigade, the rescue service and a crisis intervention team were on site to treat the slightly injured, including a ten-year-old child. The police are looking for witnesses.
