According to media reports, English football champions Manchester City will have to do without midfielder Rodri for the long term. The Spanish international was substituted injured after around 20 minutes in Sunday’s top match against Arsenal FC (2:2) and limped off the pitch. The 28-year-old had just made his comeback after an injury break.
Severe knee injury
According to information from ESPN, Rodri tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will therefore be out for the rest of the season. “The Athletic” reported on Monday that Rodri sustained a serious knee injury in the tie. Examinations are still ongoing. It is therefore not certain how long he will be out. However, the Spanish international will be absent from ManCity for a longer period of time, it was reported.
Rodri warned against overload
Rodri, of all people, recently complained about the high pressure on football professionals due to their packed schedule. “In my humble opinion, that’s too much. I think we have to look after ourselves,” he warned. “Someone has to look after us because we are the main actors in this sport or business, or whatever you want to call it.”
