Working life: Bendik Hareide is the son of former national team manager Åge Hareide.

The Norwegian trio have been given a place in the Burton management as a result of the company Nordic Football Group (NFG) taking over ownership of the club, which is in the third level of English football, on Monday.

It is Burton’s long-standing chairman and owner Ben Robinson who has chosen to sell his shareholding in the club to Swedish NFG. At the same time, Robinson continues as an adviser to the new board.

Ole Jakob Strandhagen has been appointed as new chairman of the board, while Kevin Skabo will become commercial director.

“We are privileged and grateful that this baton has been passed on to us, and we take the responsibility of being stewards of your club extremely seriously,” writes NFG in a greeting to the fans.

“This opportunity means a lot to us and we understand that the future progress and achievements of Burton Albion Football Club now rest squarely on our shoulders, as they have done at Ben’s up until today,” they added.

Burton narrowly avoided relegation from the third tier of English football this season.

NFG writes that the company fully understands that the supporters have experienced the recent times as frustrating and uncertain, all the while there has been little official news about the club’s future.

“Every club has its own rich history, but we love Burton’s underdog history. We feel it is unique – from non-league football to climbing the divisions against all odds through stable management and financial sustainability, while maintaining their strong local connections,” write the new owners.
