Economy and business: At most, 500 people will be employed in the project at several locations in Norway and in Mumbai in India, writes Aker Solutions in a press release. The contract is worth between NOK 2.5 and 4 billion, but the company does not state the exact sum.

The work will start immediately and is scheduled to be completed towards the end of 2026.

For several decades, some of the waste water from Mongstad has been sent to Denmark for treatment. In December last year, Denmark decided that this should cease. However, Equinor had plans for an upgraded treatment plant at Mongstad before this decision was taken.

Mongstad is a supply base for the petroleum operations in the North Sea. The facility is the country’s largest oil refinery.
