WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – An independent audit investigating Sedgwick County 911 and the Wichita Fire Department is being delayed.
The report is looking into what went wrong the night Paoly Bedeski died in an apartment fire in October 2023. Bedeski called 911 and gave them her address, but the firefighters’ union says dispatch did not tell them she was trapped.
The county says the Jensen Hughes team, which is doing the independent investigation, needs additional time to review the data and create an accurate report. This week, the Wichita City Council members voted to extend the agreement until Jan. 31, 2025.
The date that the report will be released is still unknown.
