Sport: The Catalans won 2-1 after goals from Robert Lewandowski and Fermín López. Sevilla’s goal was scored by striker Youssef En-Nesyri.

Nyland made several good saves in the match, but had demanding working conditions when Lewandowski finished beautifully and precisely from close range after a good cross from João Cancelo.

López got a good shot after just under an hour and scored the decisive goal in what was nevertheless Xavi Hernández’s last game as Barcelona manager.

In January, Xavi stated that he would retire from the job after the season. In April, the turnaround came, when the club legend signed an extension until 2025. Now it’s all over, and according to several media, Flick is on his way to the gates. On Friday, the club announced that Xavi could not continue.

Barcelona finished in 2nd place, ten points behind league winners Real Madrid.

Sevilla ended the season with four straight losses, but the good news for Nyland is that it was announced that the Norwegian will continue at the club for two more years.

Villarreal striker Alexander Sørloth was well placed to become the top scorer with his 23 goals, but Girona’s Artem Dovbyk scored a hat-trick in the last match and ended up with 24 goals. Sørloth injured himself after a quarter of an hour in the last match and did not get a proper opportunity to answer the Ukrainian.
