Bay girls soccer parade celebrates OHSAA state championship (photos)

BAY VILLAGE, Ohio — The Bay high school girls soccer team earned a well-deserved parade through Bay Village Tuesday, after winning the OHSAA Division III state soccer championship earlier this month.

The team won the championship match in a nailbiter against Highland that came down to the final seconds of regulation. With 12 second left in the match, senior Tessa Knapp crossed the ball to Maya Holmes, who scored.

The goal was the only one of the game, and gave Bay the crown.

The mile-long parade, down Wolf Road from Bay middle school to the high school, was lined with cheering fans and families. The procession finished at the high school stadium; a familiar spot for the Rockets, who won many matches on the pitch.

The Rockets were the only undefeated girls soccer team in Ohio, finishing the season with a record of 22-0-2.
