Bombardier delivers the first Global 6500 aircraft to the U.S. Army

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Bombardier delivered the first Global 6500 aircraft to the U.S. Army’s “Hades Program.”

The plane has sensors that can detect movement on the ground and give soldiers information about the terrain. The surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft can fly in all weather conditions and help protect soldiers’ lives on the ground.

Senator Jerry Moran says this project will serve the military and bring new opportunities to the air capital of the world.

“I think the thing that’s special about this is technology, the capabilities to do things today that we couldn’t do before, and it all comes together in this aircraft in a way that is unique and necessary for the United States and its defense missions around the globe,” said Moran. “It has a great potential in the future. Certainly for the well-being of Wichita and our efforts to expand the work in defense, but also the real issue here is the capabilities of protecting our country, its service men and women as they do their jobs in the army.”

Moran says the dedicated and experienced workforce in Wichita helps attract high-demand projects like this.
