Sport: The veteran finished second in his semi-final heat with a time of 6:55.27. The top three advanced to Tuesday’s final.

Borch was beaten by 2.53 seconds by Romanian Mihai Chiruta. Earlier in the day, he was also second best in the second quarter-final, while on Sunday he took a heat win in the initial attempt.

The final Olympic qualification is held in Lucerne, Switzerland. Borch must be one of the two best in the final among those who are not already qualified to go to the Olympics in Paris.

Three years ago, Borch won Olympic silver in single sculls, while Olaf Tufte won bronze in double sculls in 2016. His first Games were in 2012 in London.

Norway has already qualified four boats for this year’s Olympics and Paralympics: Women’s double sculls, men’s double sculls, men’s lightweight double sculls and women’s single sculls (Paralympics).

Next to Borch is another Norwegian boat looking for an Olympic ticket. The men’s doubles four with Erik Solbakken, Kristoffer Brun, Jonas Juel and Oskar Helvig impressed in Sunday’s qualification and are ready for Tuesday’s final.
