Sport: Isaac Kiese Thelin became the match winner and thus left the Norwegian behind on the top scorer list in Allsvenskan. Thelin scored his ninth goal, while Bothheim has eight.

Elfsborg took an early lead, but Malmö equalized in the 40th minute. Bothheim was strong in the box, took down a cross, shielded the ball with a man at his back and set it up for Hugo Bolin, who shot in 1-1.

On the 2-1 goal in the 57th minute, Bothheim was the third last Malmö player on the ball. He played Sergio Peña, who hit a flat cross that Thelin put into the goal at the near post.

– I told Erik that “your goal will come”. I don’t care who scores as long as we win, said Thelin according to Aftonbladet.

Tuesday’s match was brought forward from August because Malmö will then be busy with European Cup qualification. The victory means that the blue jerseys have a six-point gap at the top of the table, but with one game more played than their rivals.

Lasse Berg Johnsen played the entire match for Malmö, while Bothheim was replaced in the 83rd minute. He was recalled to the national team squad against Kosovo and Denmark after Alexander Sørloth’s injury.
