Spanish authorities have successfully busted a fraud syndicate or scammer posing as actor Brad Pitt to deceive the public.
To make matters worse, the organization allegedly managed to collect US$350,000 from several victims.
Appearing to comment on issues involving himself, Brad through his representative strongly warned fans not to be deceived by any online fraud syndicate. It is clear that he has never been in contact with any fans and even has a personal social media account.
“It is very bad when there are fraudsters who take advantage of the strong relationship between fans and celebrities. An important reminder not to respond to online messages at will, especially from actors who don’t even have their own social media pages,” he explained.
On September 23, the Spanish Ministry of the Interior announced the arrest of five individuals believed to be involved in a fraud syndicate. The suspect allegedly pretended to be Brad to ask for money from the victim after promising a romantic relationship.
Apart from Brad, other famous Hollywood stars including Johny Depp, Tom Hanks and Florence Pugh also spoke about the scammer’s activities. – Agency
