Sport: On Thursday, the German national team manager Julian Nagelsmann presents his chosen ones for the European Championship on home soil. However, a number of names have appeared beforehand – in very unusual places.

On Wednesday, Bayern Munich profile Joshua Kimmich was inventively presented by actor Wolfgang Bahro. Bahro made the announcement off the set of the long-running TV soap opera “Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten,” of which Kimmich is a big fan.

Antonio Rüdiger’s place in the squad was in turn confirmed by the owner of a kebab shop the Real Madrid star often visited in his boyhood days.

– Hello, Antonio, my good man. I want to tell you that you have been selected for the EC. Since you were also my guest as a school student, the first 50 students who come here will get a free döner kebab today, said the proprietor.

On Tuesday, a portrait of Bayern Munich player Leroy Sané suddenly appeared on the wall of the Schirn art museum in Frankfurt. It was the German Football Association’s way of including him in the European Championship squad.

On the same day, Chris Führich’s name was made public as he was pictured on bread bags at a bakery in Nagold.

Maximilian Mittelstädt also received the go-ahead on Tuesday. His name was announced by singer Peter Schilling on Instagram. One of Schilling’s songs was played over the public address system when Mittelstädt scored against the Netherlands in March.

The creative way of presenting the EC squad has become a talking point in Germany. The purpose is to create a bubble and prevent leaks.

These are so far ready for the EC:

Goalkeeper: Manuel Neuer.

Backs: Joshua Kimmich, Nico Schlotterbeck, Jonathan Tah, Robin Koch, Maximilian Mittelstädt, Antonio Rüdiger.

Midfielders: Chris Führich, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Leroy Sané, Robert Andrich, Pascal Gross.

Forwards: Niclas Füllkrug, Kai Havertz.

A few hours earlier, Bayer Leverkusen player Robert Andrich was presented by his national team colleague Toni Kroos in a podcast, and almost at the same time TV celebrity Günther Jauch, who is the host of the German edition of “Will you be a millionaire?”, announced that Brighton player Pascal Gross is also going to the EC.

In the past, other player withdrawals have been released by several high-profile influencers and in social media. Arsenal striker Kai Havertz had his withdrawal confirmed on Monday on the YouTube channel Calcio Berlin.
