CLEVELAND, Ohio — Browns consultant Mike Vrabel, likely to be one of the hottest names on the market when the league’s coaching carousel kicks off, will appear on the Manningcast during Monday Night Football this week.
Vrabel will join hosts Peyton and Eli Manning as well as former Patriots coach Bill Belichick, a featured guest on the Manningcast all season, on the alternate broadcast that airs on ESPN2 and ESPN+ during select Monday night games.
Belichick could also be looking to get back on the sideline next season as he chases the league’s all-time wins record.
The Chargers host the Ravens on Monday night, two teams Vrabel is familiar with as the Browns have played both already this season.
A Northeast Ohio native, Vrabel was fired last January after six seasons with the Titans and, after failing to land another head coaching job, joined the Browns as a coaching and personnel consultant this season.
Vrabel has been a visible presence during practices and, recently, during games for the Browns. He has been on the sideline wearing an earpiece, doing so for the first time last Sunday in New Orleans.
“Vrabes is involved in a lot of what we do,” head coach Kevin Stefanski said earlier this week. “He’s out there on home games, he was able to come to this one. He’s listening in on the conversations with us. He’s a great resource for me game day, Monday through Friday, so he will continue to do that.”
Vrabel, 49, went 54-45 with the Titans and made three playoff appearances, including a run to the AFC Championship Game in 2019. He was named coach of the year in 2021.
He has developed a reputation as a smart tactician and had a penchant for getting sometimes undermanned Tennessee teams to punch above their weight.
A former player and three-time Super Bowl champ who played high school football at Walsh Jesuit in Cuyahoga Falls, Vrabel excels at relating with players and doesn’t shy away from jumping into drills at practice.
His appearance on the Manningcast will put him back in the national spotlight and will likely kickstart his attempt to jump back into coaching.
