Sport: The last time Erik ten Hag’s men ran away with three points was the 2-0 win at home against Everton on 9 March.

The weak streak has also meant that the red shirts have, so to speak, dropped out of the race for championship play next season. Ten points now separate Aston Villa and Tottenham in 4th and 5th place.

And Manchester United were not going to have it easy away from home. After dominating the start of the game, it was still the hosts who took the lead when Dominic Solanke knocked in the first goal of the game after 16 minutes.

– What a season he has had. He hits the mark. It is absolutely brilliantly done by Bournemouth’s top scorer, exclaimed Viaplay commentator Kasper Wikestad.

Solanke thus stands with 17 goals this season. Only Erling Braut Haaland (20) and Ollie Watkins (18) have more.

In doing so, he also passes Joshua King’s record (16 goals) for the most goals scored by a Bournemouth player in a Premier League season.

Exactly fifteen minutes later, Bruno Fernandes sent the teams level again when he equalized for the visitors.

Admittedly, the joy was short-lived for “the red devils” when Justin Kluivert put the hosts in the lead again after just four minutes.

In the second half, the hosts still messed up the lead when Adam Smith completely unnecessarily handled the ball inside the 16-metre area.

Fernandes could thus score his second goal of the evening from the chalk mark.

Well into overtime, the hosts were awarded a penalty, but after a small VAR check, it was converted into a free kick, which was hit straight into the wall.
