Bryn and Vea set a world record in the chess marathon

Sport: When they finished their last game on Tuesday evening, they had been playing blitz chess against each other since Sunday morning, A representative of the Guinness Book of Records confirmed that they have fulfilled the requirement to be listed as a world record.

Bryn and Vea are both skilled chess players, with rating points of 2129 and 2123 respectively. They also run the podcast “Sjakksnakk”.

Bryn did the best in the blitz chess duels and won 181 times against Vea’s 146. In total they completed 383 games. It was a draw at the very end.

The record attempt was carried out in Stavanger in the premises where Norway Chess is held. Magnus Carlsen brought flowers to his two mates when they had set the record.

– I am very proud of them. I had my doubts, but they were very serious and made good preparations, said the former world champion, who heads Norway Chess.
