LOS ANGELES (KSNW) — A California woman has been accused of operating brothels she disguised as skin care spas.
Our sister station KTLA in Los Angeles reports that the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office began investigating earlier this year when they received information that the Swan Spa located in Thousand Oaks was a commercial sex establishment.
Detectives soon identified three other locations: one in nearby Newbury Park and two in neighboring Orange County.
“Detectives were able to positively identify multiple male individuals suspected of purchasing commercial sex at each of the four locations under investigation,” according to the sheriff’s office.
The department says they identified a 44-year-old woman who benefited financially from the operation. She was arrested on charges of pimping, pandering and money laundering and is being held on $100,000 bond.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office says the FBI assisted them in the investigation, which is still ongoing.
