Sport: The Norwegian won with the numbers 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. Ruud is seeded number eight in the tournament, while Humbert is the 14th seed.

In the semi-finals, world number one Novak Djokovic awaits, who earlier on Friday progressed at the expense of Alex de Minaur. From before, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Jannik Sinner have also secured advancement.

The Snarøya boy got a dream start to the match when he broke Humbert and went up to a 3-2 lead. Ruud then won the set when he broke the Frenchman again and secured 6-3.

Ruud continued the big game in the second set when he broke the Frenchman’s first service game.

– This is such a really good tennis match by Casper. He plays with a stroke that is absolutely fantastic. It’s terribly good tennis that Ugo will sharpen his skills on today, commented Sverre Krogh-Sundbø on Discovery+.

– Casper is now under pressure, and he has not always responded very well to this type of pressure. There is another initiative pendulum pointing in Humbert’s way right now, commented Krogh-Sundbø.

However, Ruud disproved the Discovery expert when he broke Humbert’s second and third serves to go up 5-1. The Norwegian was then able to serve in the victory to 6-1.

In the round of 16 Ruud showed great form and beat the in-form Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets with the numbers 6-4, 6-2.

Hurkacz won the ATP250 tournament in Estoril last week and passed Ruud in the rankings. Ruud, who was the defending champion in Estoril, lost in the semi-finals to Pedro Martinez.

After Friday’s victory, Ruud passes Grigor Dimitrov, Holger Rune and Hurkacz and climbs up to 7th place in the world ranking.

However, the French responded by breaking Ruud on the next serve and went up to a 3-2 lead. The Norwegian tennis ace was unable to answer Humbert, who eventually won the second set 6-4.

Before Friday’s match, Rudd and Humbert had met four times, with the Frenchman winning three of the matches.
