BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 1 OCT – Subtheme Mental Health and Science was also discussed at the 2024 Knowledge Council Seminar in the second session which took place today at the Conference Hall, International Conference Center (ICC), Berakas.
Present as the guest of honor at the ceremony was the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department and Second Minister of Finance and Economy, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah.
Emotional Control and Mental Health is the title of the paper presented by the Psychological Officer and Head of the Clinical and Community Psychology Service, Ministry of Health, Dayang Hani Haryana binti Haji Maidin.
He has touched on a holistic approach that integrates various strategies to deal with emotions and comprehensive mental health in fostering emotional well-being and improving the overall quality of life.
While Consultant Psychiatrist, Department of Psychiatry, Ministry of Health, Dayangku Dr Raidah Hayati binti Pengiran Haji Mohamed presented a paper entitled The Long-Term Effects of Stress on Mental Health and How to Manage It. Among the essence of his paper presentation is the importance of realizing that stress management is a personal journey that requires a different approach for each individual.
In addition, regular self-assessment can help identify effective strategies for building resilience to future stressors by prioritizing stress management. Overall, an individual’s mental well-being and quality of life can be improved.
Meanwhile, Assistant Professor, Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Institute of Health Sciences, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Dr Deeni Rudita bin Idris, presented a paper entitled Stigma Against Health and Mental Illness Among Informal Caregivers of Psychiatric Patients in Brunei Darussalam.
At the seminar in the second session, he discussed the role of social media in increasing access to information, knowledge and the level of awareness about mental health and mental illness.
