After the death of a three-year-old child, the 42-year-old mother was arrested in Berlin-Spandau. Police and prosecutors announced that an investigation was underway into a suspected homicide.
Residents of an apartment building on Päwesiner Weg called the police at around 3:50 a.m. They had heard loud noises coming from the apartment on the ground floor and observed objects being thrown outside. Police officers then forced their way into the rooms. They found the child lifeless in the presence of his mother, according to the statement.
Police officers immediately began resuscitation of the child. The doctor who was called continued this effort – unsuccessfully. Based on the situation in which the child was found, investigators believe it was a homicide. The 42-year-old is considered a prime suspect. An autopsy of the child’s body has been ordered.
