Delta to begin serving Shake Shack on select flights

(KTLA) – Travelers soon will be able to enjoy Shake Shack’s famous burgers on select Delta flights beginning next month, with plans to expand throughout the U.S. in 2025.

On Tuesday, Delta Airlines announced its new partnership with the fast-casual restaurant chain, which will begin serving first-class customers on long-haul routes out of Boston on Dec. 1.

The trademark Shake Shack Cheeseburger will be available for pre-select on flights over 900 miles departing out of Beantown, but Delta officials said there are plans to expand to different routes in the coming year.

Stephanie Laster, Delta’s managing director of onboard service, said burgers are one of the most popular items on its in-flight menu, which is why the company is excited to “elevate the offering with Shake Shack.”

The Shake Shack Cheeseburger features an Angus beef patty topped with cheese and served on a toasted potato bun. The burger can be customized with tomato, lettuce and the restaurant chain’s eponymous ShackSauce, which comes on the side. The in-flight meal will also feature chips, a dark chocolate brownie and a Caesar salad, officials said.

First-class flyers can pre-select the Shake Shack Cheeseburger meal online up to 24 hours before their flight or through the Delta app.

Delta and Shake Shack officials said they were thrilled about the new partnership, with the airline saying the restaurant offers a “people-first culture” that matches its own.

Neither company has said when or to where the in-flight service will be expanded in the coming year, but Michael Kark, president of global licensing at Shake Shack, said the restaurant chain is always looking for innovative ways to meet its customers where they are, “even at 35,000 feet.”
