Economy and business: Bassey, today aged 87, sang the title song to the 1971 James Bond film ‘Diamonds Are Forever’.

But now Reuters reports that she is selling off part of her jewelery and watches at auction to raise income for charitable purposes that she has selected herself.

– Many of the pieces of jewelery have diamonds, reveals Nikita Binani, who heads the jewelery department at auction house Sotheby’s London. The most expensive is a diamond necklace which is expected to fetch up to 320,000 euros.

– To me, collecting jewelery is like collecting memories. Everyone has their meaning and a story attached to them, says Shirley Bassey in a statement.

Bassey sang the title song for two more James Bond films, 1964’s Goldfinger and 1979’s Moonraker.
