Sport: On Sunday, the major tournament starts on the red clay in the French capital Paris, and Djokovic will face the local hope Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the 1st round.

The Serbian has struggled with his form in 2024, and he does not see himself as a favorite in this year’s second Grand Slam tournament.

– Of course I am worried. I haven’t played well at all this year, Djokovic said after losing to Czech Tomas Machac in the semi-finals in Geneva on Friday.

– I’ve had some good matches here and there, but it is what it is. You just have to accept it. I don’t see myself as a favorite there (in Paris). I have a lot to work on. I have to take it match by match and see how far I can go, continued the Serbian world number one.

Djokovic has won 24 Grand Slam trophies and 98 ATP titles in total, but in 2024 he is without a tournament victory. Against Machac, he struggled with his stomach along the way, and he does not seem to find the rhythm he has often had when going from victory to victory in recent years.

– I just need to feel better. It’s not good when you struggle on the pitch and feel like that. You can’t focus on tennis when there are other things going on. I just hope I will be ready, fit and prepared for Roland-Garros, he says.
