COLUMBUS, Ohio — Former Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer was the subject of some funny storytelling during ESPN’s, “Manningcast” on Monday.
It started when actor Owen Wilson was a guest on the show — which is hosted by former NFL quarterbacks and brothers Peyton and Eli Manning.
A clip aired during the broadcast showing Meyer once asking Wilson, “Who are you? How do I know you?”
Mike Vrabel, a former defensive end at Ohio State, listened in when that story was shared. When he joined the show later as a guest, he shared a similar experience.
“I was coaching the Titans, he was coaching the Jaguars and he actually said the same thing to me,” Vrabel said. “I said, ‘Yeah, I’m the head coach for the Titans and I worked for you for two years.‘”
Vrabel worked as Meyer’s defensive line coach at Ohio State from 2012-13.
He then jumped to the NFL ranks where he served as an assistant for the Texans before becoming the Titans’ head coach (2018–23).
Vrabel is now a coaching and personnel consultant for the Browns.
