Sport: It was at 2-1 to Dortmund that Mönchengladbach goalkeeper Jonas Omlin fouled Karim Adeyemi, and the visitors were awarded a penalty.

Two goal scorer Marcel Sabitzer stepped up to the chalk mark and slotted in what he thought was his third goal of the day, but seconds after the ball went into the goal, referee Florian Badstubner was told by VAR to cancel the penalty.

– I don’t understand what is happening here now. Does he have to take the punishment again? asked Viaplay’s commentator.

Badstubner ran to the sideline and watched the penalty situation a number of times in replays, before both the penalty and the score were cancelled.

Afterwards, it turns out that the referee had never called the penalty, but that Sabitzer was fooled by whistles from the crowd and therefore fired the penalty.

– It’s unbelievable, but I think it’s okay. When he has not blown, he can defend himself that he gets the right outcome, said the commentator.

And when the Dortmund supporters were at their most frustrated, Adeyemi was sent to the shower just three minutes later as he picked up his second yellow card.

Julian Ryerson started the game on the bench, but was replaced for the second half.
