Drunk driver attributes arrest to divine intervention in Brook Park

BROOK PARK, Ohio – An intoxicated Euclid man, 47, was arrested at about 2 a.m. Nov. 8 after police witnessed him commit several traffic violations in his Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The man drifted between lanes while heading southbound on Engle Road near Sheldon Road. Also, the Jeep’s taillights weren’t illuminated.

Police pulled over the Jeep on Engle near Englewood Drive. The man said the Jeep was weaving because he was talking on his cell phone.

The man’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy and his speech was slurred. The Jeep smelled like alcohol. The man failed field sobriety tests.

As police drove the man to jail, he said, “I feel like God sent you, because if I’m driving to the point I can’t make it (home), God sent you.”
