Sport: The match ended 6-3, 6-2 in favor of Zvonareva and Andrejeva.

Eikeri and Neel started their quest for a guaranteed quarter-final ticket in Paris well, leading the first set 3-1 after breaking their opponent’s serve in the fourth game.

After that, however, a lot went wrong.

Zvonareva and Andrejeva turned 1-3 to win the set 6-3 after forcing no less than three straight breaks of serve.

Set number two continued in the same manner. There Eikeri and Neel ended up under pressure early on and eventually had to watch their opponents storm to the quarter-finals with 6-2 in the set.

The duo Zvonareva and Andrejeva can boast a solid combination of youthful enthusiasm and routine. The former is 39 years old, while Andrejeva is only 17.

Eikeri must try to shake off the disappointment quickly. Already later on Tuesday, she will be in action in the mixed doubles together with the Argentine Maximo Gonzalez. In that match, a semi-final place is at stake.

Opponents for Eikeri and Gonzalez are Japanese Miyu Kato and Tim Puetz from Germany. The Norwegian-Argentinian duo is the top seed in the tournament.
