RUSSELL TOWNSHIP, Ohio –
Suspicious, Caves Road:
A resident wanted to file a police report 2:14 p.m. Sept. 16 after receiving a suspicious email demanding a bitcoin payment. An officer read the email and determined it was a generic phishing scam. The subject demanded money to avoid sending out the victim’s personal information. The officer offered advice to the resident.
Animal bite, East Willard Road:
Police took a report for a dog bite 2:50 p.m. Sept. 19. Further details were not available in the initial report.
Suspicious, Kinsman Road:
Concerned about what she found in her barn, a woman showed a photo of it 9 a.m. Sept. 18 to police. After examining the photo officers determined it was a railroad flare. They gave her advice on how to safely dispose of it.
Assistance, Kinsman Road:
Dispatched 9:43 a.m. Sept. 19, officers found a man walking on the side of the road near County Line Road. They met with him and gave him a courtesy ride to a gas station in Newbury.
Traffic complaint, Chillicothe Road:
After receiving reports 4:44 p.m. Sept. 17 of a tanker truck passing vehicles and blowing its horn, an officer located it and followed it into Newbury. The officer did not see the driver commit any traffic violations while following the driver.
