BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, NOV 29 – Employees with integrity will carry out their duties and responsibilities with full discipline and behave with high manners and morals.
The application of integrity in work is very important to be implemented to prevent crimes such as corruption, the preacher said during today’s Friday sermon titled Application of Integrity in Employment.
Integrity, he said, is also referred to doing something right and true even if no one is watching or paying attention.
As an employee, must always perform duties honestly based on the procedures and conditions set by department or company regulations and the law.
“We should not turn our backs on any work procedure for our own benefit. We must work honestly, full of dedication and responsibility in providing the best service and quality of work for the community,” he added.
Employees with high integrity are also a strong bulwark in ensuring that there is no violation of rules or laws in the organization.
“They are also not easily influenced by evil elements because they know the consequences of such actions will lead them to hardship and harm,” stressed the preacher.
Integrity is a word that is often heard that describes superior qualities that include good values and high moral practices such as honesty, trust, sincerity, fairness, sticking to principles, reliable, not easily influenced and transparent and obeying rules and laws.
“But to what extent do we practice and apply it in work?” the question. There is no denying, he said, that there are times when integrity is tested when carrying out tasks and bearing trusts that are held accountable with various challenges and conjectures.
According to the khatib again, integrity in work can be seen from various angles and it starts with the attitude of attendance at the workplace whether on duty or not, compliance with departmental rules and work ethics such as presence at the workplace and how to handle oneself while on duty.
“All that shows whether we are an employee with integrity or not,” he explained.
He stressed that failure to comply with duty hours, can be seen as a small and normal thing, but if it lasts can affect the performance and quality of work and services.
Remember that those who do not uphold the value of integrity in their work, can have a significant impact in life, i.e. fall into evils such as corruption and misuse of power, betrayal, fraud and acts of corruption which can certainly bring down organizations, community institutions and threaten national security.
In addition, he said, there can be a loss of God’s blessing and pleasure in life and to avoid this, integrity needs to be absorbed and practiced in oneself.
He also emphasized that corruption is one of the biggest tests or challenges for every employee. Employees with integrity are able to firmly reject corruption because they know that corruption is a serious offense and can affect the future.
Anything obtained from bribery will not bring blessings, not to mention, if you eat the proceeds of bribery which is illegal.
In Brunei Darussalam, he stressed, strict action will be taken against anyone involved in corruption, if found guilty, they will be fined $30,000 and imprisoned for seven years.
