Enjoy the aroma, the taste of the pastry

SEOUL – The newly opened What a Bread (WAB) bakery in the busy food street next to Yongson Station – serves a variety of creative baked goods that you can enjoy.

The interior atmosphere makes you feel like you are going to a bakery somewhere in rural America.

The last few years have seen Korean bakeries grow more creative than ever, with new genre techniques incorporating innovative flavor combinations.

WAB lives up to the hallmarks of a bakery that offers delicious pastries, has the freshest and most filling dishes in the city.

Its signature buns include the MBTI, something akin to a cream-dotted donut where it comes in four different flavors based on the typeface – a pistachio donut with pistachio sprinkles on top for E or I; dark brown for N or S; lemon cream with lemon peel for F or T; and blueberry cream cheese for P or J.
They also sell all four MBTI letters in a boxed set, making it a fun way to enjoy a toast with friends or family.

It offers more than a dozen types of bread in the 33-square-meter shop, each of which is named after a region in the United States.

For example, some cored breads that can be enjoyed as a meal such as figs, sweet potatoes and sweet pumpkins are named ‘Virginia’, ‘Washington’ and ‘Colorado’ respectively.

Pastries such as tiramisu maritozzo and egg tarts are each named ‘New Jersey’ and ‘Kentucky.’

Most of the breads are not too sweet and all the flavors are very good. For example, in ‘Hawaii’ – red bean cream pastry – a layer of crispy pastry crust, thick fresh whipped cream and a hint of red bean paste all come together to create balance.

While the drinks are very large in size and they include unique creations such as, Jeju carrot cream latteavocado latte and Ras-cream – raspberry and vanilla ice cream.

It’s hard to understand why a Jeju-inspired drink carrot cream latte it became a special drink on the menu, however, it was something interesting to try. – ANN/The Korea Herald
