Culture and entertainment: Johnny Logan is the only male artist to have won the song contest twice.

First with “What’s Another Year?” in 1980 and then in 1987 with “Hold Me Now”, which have become classics in the genre. He was also the composer of “Why Me”, with which Linda Martin won Eurovision in 1992.

– I am extremely honored and excited to have been invited to perform as a guest on 7 May at Eurovision in Malmö. Sweden has won seven times, just like Ireland. To be asked to represent my country one last time is something very special to me, says 69-year-old Logan in a statement.

Until Loreen ran away with the victory in Eurovision for the second time last year, Johnny Logan was the only artist who had managed the feat twice.

– Eurovision is so easy to kick, but I try to look for the positive: That it is a program that gathers millions of viewers all over Europe. When it was first broadcast, it was important for European community feeling, Johnny Logan told NTB a few years ago.

Eurovision Song Contest TV producer Per Blankens promises that Logan will make “a unique performance like the Eurovision king that he is”, but that the audience cannot expect to hear his winning songs.

– The feature breaks with all high-tech performances and will not leave anyone untouched. Most people will recognize the song, even if it won’t be “Hold Me Now” or “What’s Another Year?” this time, says Blankens.
