BOURNEMOUTH, OCT 1 – Bournemouth’s most expensive player, Evanilson, scored his first goal for the club as he helped the team to a 3-1 win over Southampton, yesterday.
The Brazil international striker helped the home side score three quick goals in the first 39 minutes, with Dango Ouattara and Antoine Semenyo also on target.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis managed to close the gap for Southampton in the second half, but the Saints remain in the bottom three without a win since returning to the Premier League.
The win saw Bournemouth move up to 11th, above Manchester United, with their second win of the campaign this season.
Evanilson, who was bought for £40m as a replacement for Dominic Solanke, who moved to Tottenham last month, made a comeback after missing a penalty in Bournemouth’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea last time out.
The striker managed to score after receiving a pass from Marcus Tavernier’s swift free kick in the 17th minute.
“It’s the goal we’ve been waiting for from Evanilson,” said Bournemouth assistant manager Tommy Elphick, who replaced suspended manager Andoni Iraola. – AFP
