Failed to display the price tag, a warning notice was issued

BELAIT, 18 NOV – The Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (JPES), Ministry of Finance and Economy (MOFE) has issued a warning notice to a business premises for failing to display price tags for some of the goods sold at the premises, recently.

The offense was detected during an integrated operation conducted by JPES through the Consumer Affairs Department together with the Weights and Measures Unit (SDT), Industry and Business Ecosystem Division under MOFE on business premises in Belait District, with a focus on the Lumut and Sungai Liang areas .

Meanwhile, the rest of the business premises that were inspected were found to comply with the Price Control Act, Chapter 142 where price-controlled items such as cooking oil and powdered milk formula, are not sold above the maximum set price and the price tag is clear and orderly.

During the operation, SDT Unit enforcers found as many as seven units of measuring and weighing equipment being used for trading purposes. A unit of weighing equipment belonging to a business company was found to have failed to comply with the Weights and Measures Act 1983 Chapter 151, i.e. using measuring and weighing equipment that had expired its registration period.

A Seizure Notice was issued to the company and the tool was confiscated.

In the meantime, the company is required to attend the SDT Unit office according to the registered device catchment within seven working days from the date the notice is issued to correct the issue.
