The Bundesliga football clubs VfB Stuttgart and Bayer Leverkusen as well as the second division club 1. FC Köln will bid farewell to their deceased former coach Christoph Daum with a joint memorial service on September 12th. The memorial service will take place from 3.30 p.m. in the Cologne stadium. “Where he was at home, on the pitch, on the green grass, one last time in front of a full house in the RheinEnergieStadion,” the statement said.

In addition to his family, friends, acquaintances and colleagues from national and international football will also attend the celebration to “commemorate his life’s work”. Admission is free for fans.

Daum, who died of cancer at the age of 70 at his home in Cologne on August 24, celebrated numerous sporting successes. In addition to the championship with Stuttgart (1992), he won the Turkish championship three times (1995 with Besiktas Istanbul, 2004 and 2005 with Fenerbahçe Istanbul), the Turkish Cup with Besiktas in 1994 and won the double in Austria with FK Austria Vienna in 2003.
