Following incident at their child’s Beachwood school, parents banned from returning

BEACHWOOD, Ohio — The mother and father of a young student have been banned from returning to their child’s school, and the mother was charged with disorderly conduct following an incident at Hilltop Elementary School.

At 3:15 p.m. Nov. 12, police were called to Hilltop Elementary, 24524 Hilltop Drive, where a teacher and staff members told officers they were threatened by the mother of a third grade student.

Because the school’s public address system was not working, a third grade teacher let out late her students from their last class of the day. The students, thus, missed their bus ride home.

The teacher arranged for another bus to come and get the students. That bus arrived in just 5-8 minutes and took the children directly to their homes.

The mother of one of those students saw that her child had not gotten off the regularly timed bus and went to the school to complain. The woman yelled and wanted to know when her daughter would arrive home.

Not satisfied with the answer that the child would be home as soon as the bus arrived, the angry mother said the teacher was “lucky she didn’t beat her (expletive)” and also threatened to beat her.

She said the matter was “unacceptable” and a case of “neglect” on the teacher’s part. The teacher has had other unpleasant encounters with the mother in the past.

Other school administrators and teachers were present when the mother also was alleged to have yelled at the group several things, including that one of them was an “(expletive) Trump lover.”

The school staff members, even after the mother had been gone from the property for 30 minutes, asked for police for escorts to their cars.

Police went to the parents’ house and cited the mother for disorderly conduct. The child’s father also came to the school after the mother had been at the scene, although he did not say anything against the staff.

Police also spoke to Beachwood Schools Superintendent Robert Hardis about the matter.

Both the mother and father have been told not to return to the school grounds before June 3, when the school year ends, or face arrest for trespassing.
