Food supplies to Gaza are not enough – UNRWA

RAMALLAH, NOV 25 – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) confirmed that the supply of flour and food allowed in by the Israeli occupation through the border crossing only meets six percent of the population’s needs, the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) reported. .

According to the report, such a situation caused a severe crisis, especially in obtaining bread supplies, so that most bakeries in the southern Gaza Strip were forced to close.

UNRWA explains that the more than two million displaced people in the Gaza Strip are now besieged by hunger, thirst, disease and fear, with getting food an impossible task for families in the region.

The agency also stated that the situation of the people in the displacement tents and shelters is tragic, given the hunger and cold, as well as the inability of international organizations to meet their needs due to the lack of food and nutrition.

UNRWA is calling for the full opening of border crossings and the influx of supplies needed by the population to reduce hunger which is worsening cases of malnutrition and various diseases. – Named
