Four Thai citizens were killed in a rocket attack in northern Israel

BANGKOK, NOV 1 – Four Thai citizens were killed in northern Israel in a rocket attack from Lebanon, the Thai Foreign Minister said today.

Maris Sangiampongsa, in a post on social media platform X, said he was deeply saddened by the death near the town of Metula yesterday, adding that another Thai national was injured.

The head of the Regional Council in Metula said yesterday that five people were killed in a rocket attack from Lebanon, including a local farmer and four foreign farm workers.

About 30,000 Thai citizens live and work in Israel because wages in that country are much higher than in Southeast Asian countries.

Thais in Israel have been hit hard since the start of the war with Hamas, in which 39 were killed after an attack on Israel erupted on October 7, 2023.
