Culture and entertainment: It is the French postal service that issues a so-called scratch-and-smell stamp to celebrate the world-famous baguette.

The stamp, which costs just over 2 euros – just over 23 Norwegian kroner at today’s exchange rate – shows a baguette decorated with a blue-white-red ribbon and has a circulation of 594,000 copies.

“The baguette, the bread of our daily life, the symbol of our gastronomy, the jewel of our culture”, writes La Poste on its website.

The bakery-scented stamp was unveiled this week to celebrate Saint-Honoré, the patron saint of bakers and pastry chefs, and went on sale on Friday.
