CLEVELAND, Ohio — Guardians third baseman José Ramírez and relief pitcher Emmanuel Clase earned All-MLB First Team honors Thursday, becoming the first Cleveland teammates named the top players at their positions since the award was established in 2019.
Revealed live during a gala in Las Vegas, All-MLB Team recognition is voted by fans and a panel of media members, former players, and baseball officials. Josh Naylor, Andrés Giménez and Cade Smith were among the Guardians players also nominated at their positions.
Ramírez led all major league third basemen with 39 home runs, 118 RBI, 41 steals, a .279 batting average and an .872 OPS.
Clase’s 47 saves ranked second in the majors and established new single-season and career records for a Cleveland reliever.
Shane Bieber (2020) and Clase (2022) are the only Cleveland players to receive first-team honors since the awards were established five years ago. Ramírez had been named to the second team twice (2020, 2023). Clase was also named to the second team in 2023.
All-MLB Team rosters include one catcher, one infielder at each of four positions, three outfielders regardless of position, one designated hitter, five starting pitchers, and two relief pitchers.
Shohei Ohtani has been named to the first team five times and to the second team twice, earning multiple recognitions as both a DH and pitcher in 2021 and 2022. Freddie Freeman has been named to either the first or second team each season the award has existed.
