West Ham United U21s fell to a 5-1 defeat at home to Premier League 2 Division 1 league leaders Manchester City U21s.
Kian Breckin put the visitors in front at Rush Green Stadium on Friday evening but the returning Maxwell Cornet – continuing his recovery from a long-term injury – saw an effort cleared off the line late in the first-half.Â
Oscar Bobb added another goal for City early in the second half before a cross cruelly deflected in off Freddie Potts, giving the league leaders a third.Â
Breckin’s second and an Alex Robertson penalty put City in full control, but Divin Mubama grabbed a late consolation for his ninth goal in seven Premier League 2 matches in 2023.Â
